Our ashtanga yoga retreat is a led class gradually introducing more postures as the week progresses. The practice is taught in this way so that the impact on the body is not too intense as we have quite a lot of hours in the class and it is important to allow the body to move gently and with care move through the sequence of postures in the primary series. The led class here is taught with the breath as the guide which s the fundamental to the many practices of yoga and meditation. If we incorporate every movement of the vinyasa practice with breath, then the experience we have becomes one of peace and tranquillity with a little effort. The breath is the meeting point between our body and mind and if we pay close attention to it, then our yoga practice will begin to flourish.
During the yoga week we will be sitting in meditation and learning mindful methods of being in the moment with whatever is present and keeping our awareness open to what might come in the next moment. This is a great way of establishing a non forceful yoga and meditation practice as we explore the dimensions of experience through the koshas or our mental, physical and energy bodies.
During your stay you can explore our very well cared for grounds where you will find lovely long walks through the forest tracks or spend time in one of our hammocks which are thoughtfully places between the trees, and we have natural salt water pool with no nasty chemicals in it.
Sue will be holding her second retreat only for Women this year after it was such a wonderful week for those who attended last year.
